While women in Canada enjoy far more equality than many women in other countries, they continue to experience inequities in their daily lives. In an effort to address and remedy this imbalance, Canada has developed a whole network of social services to give women the support and assistance they need.

Breaking the cycle of violence against women and their children through emergency shelter, counseling, advocacy and education.

Women’s habitat is able to provide shelter, food and clothing to 25 women and children. The Family Support and Community Outreach Services provide help to hundreds of families in the community. Women’s Habitat counselors assist women through job searches, housing searches and help them network with other community agencies that may help them in their efforts to create a new life for themselves and their children. The Student Violence Prevention Initiatives brings educational resources to elementary and secondary school students in an effort to bring understanding and awareness and preventative measures to the issue of violence against women.
