ASSET Sponsors Canada's Credit Education Week for Third year in a row
ASSET is a proud sponsor of Canada’s third annual Credit Education Week, which was held between November 2nd to 6th, 2009 and was a great success!
Created and hosted by Credit Canada – a not-for-profit credit counselling organization - Credit Education Week entailed a variety of events that provide consumers with everything they need to know about managing their money and taking control of their financial future.
This year’s featured topic was “Couples and Money”, addressed by an exclusive gathering of some of Canada's top financial experts and consumer advocates. They included Alison Griffith of the popular television show “Maxed Out” and Mike Holmes, host of “Holmes on Homes” as well as senior members of government such as Minister J. Flaherty and Minister K. Wynne.
Credit Education Week Canada’s events were highlighted with a Dinner Gala at the Royal York Hotel, held on the evening of November 4, 2009. It featured keynote speaker Mike Holmes who provided attendees with motivational and invaluable information on financial matters. Also during the Dinner Gala, selected entrants from the grade 12 essay writing contest were awarded scholarship acknowledgements. The essays were in response to “how you plan on financing your post -secondary education.” As sponsor, ASSET contributed $10,000.00 to fund the event, including $1,000.00 towards the scholarship reward, which was provided to one of the winners of the contest, Alex Geddes. "ASSET is committed to assisting the public at large in their pursuit of credit and personal finance knowledge and is pleased to support worthy events such as Credit Education Week.", commented William Meany, ASSET Inc.'s President.
